re+active concussion and persistent post concussion symptoms program

Meet Brittni, our Concussion Program director.  In this video she walks you through our program and options.  Take a listen or watch, especially for those who have screen sensitivity or difficulty reading.

Return to a full life post concussion.

We specialize in a whole person and  team-based approach to assessment and treatment post-concussion.   We perform evidence based return to sport (and life!) testing and treatment.

Our testing includes:

  • Visual and vestibular integration

  • Autonomic testing and biofeedback

  • Sensory testing

  • Motor control

  • Cervical spine and musculoskeletal testing

  • Exercise tolerance

  • Cognition

  • Lifestyle

  • Emotional health

Apply online for our program to see if you are a good fit.  After we receive your application, we will set up a free consult with you to see if this is a good fit for you.

Common symptoms that are resolved with our program include dizziness, brain fog, clumsiness, migraines/ headaches and fatigue.

Why a team approach?  Did you know that many of the underlying issues post concussion are related to the autonomic nervous system? Or that sleep, diet and stress can play a role?  Our program is a perfect fit for the person who wants a holistic approach to their return to life post-concussion; an approach that includes looking at your movement, muscular factors, lifestyle, brain-body connection and your nervous system.

Our program includes:

  • Physical therapy with a focus on sensory-motor integration, vestibular, musculoskeletal and autonomic regulation.

  • Occupational therapy with a focus on lifestyle intervention: diet, energy, stress and sleep

  • Neuropsychology for cognitive testing, training, energy, and emotional health

  • Yoga therapy for autonomic toning

  • Fitness and personal training for exercise training

  • Coordination with medical and psychological professionals

  • The amount of therapy depends on the person.  Depending on your injury and goals, our program can range from 2-16 visits to reach return to sport and your life activities.

Persistent Post Concussion Symptoms Program

If you have been experiencing post concussion symptoms for a long period of time, you are best served by our intensive post concussion program.  For 2-6 weeks you participate in our interdisciplinary testing and treatment at our Torrance or WLA location. Treatment includes a holistic approach of daily therapy including PT, OT, Neuropsychology, yoga therapy and exercise training.

Sports Practice

Success story: A 13 year old soccer player returned to school and sports after 3 visits to address his headaches, eye movement difficulties and fatigue.  A targeted approach of graded exercise and vestibular rehabilitation got him back to symptom free quickly!  And we started within one day of his concussion so he could have less down time.

Basketball Player

Success story: A 31 year old professional basketball player went back to engaging in basketball-specific workouts after being unable to play basketball for 2 years after a concussion! This individual participated in a 2-week intensive that included 6 sessions of physical therapy, 6 sessions of occupational therapy, and 4 sessions of psychotherapy for a holistic approach.

"Re+Active was great, I feel like I was at a huge standstill in my recovery with PCS.  I did an initial consultation with Dr. Richardson and Dr. Charle, then shortly after, I booked an intensive to which I was able to see significant improvement in my symptoms, as well as I was sent home with homework and was given a chart as to where I needed to improve the most.  I would definitely recommend Re+Active with anyone who might be struggling with PCS — I think they have a great recovery program! They do a great job incorporating not just the physical therapy aspect but OT and psychology as well because I feel like in order to heal, you need to have multiple aspects working together.  I love and appreciate Re+Active!"
